Create Impressive Halal Menu Items

May 21, 2019
This Makro HoReCa workshop was aimed at delighting Muslim restaurateurs by inviting them to experience a new, fusion style of luxurious halal food involving beef and mutton at the most affordable prices, and all participants were encouraged to use what they learn to easily expand their businesses. Today Chef Pia Sufeeya Sama-ae, who specializes in Muslim cuisine, participated in the event to provide knowledge. The Chef possesses foundational knowledge, expertise and understanding in halal foods in line with the religious teachings of Islam, so every Muslim customer could confidently shop for products at Makro.
The atmosphere of the event was fun, and lots of entrepreneurs and customers expressed their attention. Chef Pia used only ingredients that could be purchased inside Makro, and she described the preparation methods and slowly led the participants to prepare the menu items at the event. The menu items were novel and could not be found anywhere else such as the following:
Udon in Mutton Soup This dish is fragrant with herbs and spices that effectively cover the meaty smell of the mutton. The mutton was stewed for an appropriate amount of time until soft and tender and was to be eaten alongside soft and springy udon noodles in a perfect combination. Even though lots of ingredients were used, the Chef's teaching methods and techniques made the menu item easy to prepare in under 30 minutes.
Beef Quesadilla This dish was modified by the Chef, who used flour tortilla rather than Roti to shorten preparation time and steps. The tortilla softness and the bite-sized diced beef were prepared and served in slices like pizza alongside adjar, thereby giving this dish a very high value.
Sweet-Filled Quesadilla Restaurants received a new dessert menu item made from flour tortilla. It's easily prepared. Just tear open the flour bag and pour it into a hot pan. Add butter for fragrance. Then slice some bananas, add some eggs and add another layer of cooked flour tortilla. Cut into slices like pizza and top off the dish with chocolate sauce to have a low-cost but luxurious-looking dessert.
All three menu items took only a little over two hours to prepare during the event, so there were lots of opportunities for asking about the feelings and experiences of the participants to this Makro HoReCa halal food event. Ms. Kanittha, an owner of a cook-to-order restaurant that offers Muslim and vegetarian foods and a regular customer of Makro, shared her experiences by saying that she would be able to apply a lot of what she learned to improve her restaurant. She also said that the mutton udon was the reason why she participated and that she would definitely adopt the recipe. Finally, she said that every Makro employee gave her a great welcome and was casual, so she felt very impressed.
Ms. Sunan, a Muslim rice-and-curry restaurant owner, said that she normally purchased nearly every product from Makro such as fresh foods and utensils, so she's truly a regular customer. She said she was interested in learning about every menu item because each item was interesting and new, and she also invited her family and friends to eat together with the Chef at this event.
